The important one: we are not veterinarians

Nothing on this site is veterinary advice, medical advice, or professional training advice, and none of it should be treated as a substitute for any of those things.

Stephen V. is an experienced dog owner. He is not a veterinarian, a veterinary technician, a certified trainer or a behaviourist, and this site has never claimed otherwise. Where we discuss anything touching on a dog’s health or behaviour, we cite a qualified source and attribute the claim to them.

If your dog is unwell or injured, talk to your vet. If you think your dog has ingested something dangerous, call your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately.

Safety-critical products

Some of the gear we review — car harnesses, travel crates — is safety equipment. We report crash certifications accurately and we tell you clearly what a certification does and does not cover, but we do not test this equipment ourselves and we cannot guarantee any product’s performance in a real collision.

Always follow the manufacturer’s fitting instructions, check the certification for your dog’s specific weight and size, and read our explanation of what crash certification actually covers before relying on any of it.

Accuracy

We work hard to get this right: every spec is sourced, and every source is linked. But specifications change, products get discontinued, warranties get rewritten, and errors happen.

The site is provided “as is,” without warranty. Verify anything important with the manufacturer before you rely on it — and if you find an error, please tell us so we can fix it.

Prices

Prices come from Amazon’s API and are stamped with the date they were fetched. They change constantly. The price on Amazon at the moment you buy is the price that applies — not the one we last saw.
